Connect your first channel
Bring email in, so your agents can work from real conversations.
Until something is connected, your agents can only work from what you paste into chat. Connecting email is usually the highest-leverage thing you'll do in your first hour.
What you can connect
- Email — Gmail and Outlook
- Team chat — Slack
- Social messages — Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, as those become available on your account
- Anything else — an inbound webhook, for systems without a native connection
Steps
- Go to Inbox and choose Connect a channel.
- Pick your provider and complete the consent screen. Read what you're granting — it's your mail.
- Wait for the first sync. Recent conversations appear; history backfills.
- Open a conversation and try Draft a reply to see how your agents write.
You're done when the Inbox lists real conversations and a drafted reply reads like you.
What changes once it's connected
Your agents can triage what arrives, draft replies for the straightforward ones, summarise long threads, and turn a conversation into an objective when it's actually a piece of work. Nothing sends without your approval.
Gotchas
- Connecting is read-and-draft by default. Sending is a separate, explicit grant.
- A channel that stops syncing shows an error on the channel, not silence. If a channel looks quiet, check its status before assuming nobody wrote to you.
