Hosting
Provision a cloud host so work runs without your laptop open.
Some work needs a machine: Studio projects, long-running execution, anything that should keep going when you close your laptop. That machine is a host, and it is either your own desktop or a cloud host Foreman provisions.
Steps
- Open Settings → Hosting.
- Pick a size from the catalog.
- Provision, and wait for it to report ready.
- Point Studio projects at it.
You're done when the host reports online and a Studio preview starts on it.
Sleeping and waking
An idle host sleeps to save money and wakes on demand. The first request after a sleep is slower — that is the trade, and it is usually the right one.
Gotchas
- A cloud host is billed while it exists, not only while busy. Deprovision one you have finished with.
